Anrede has arrived !

The word is German, meaning to address someone. With the correct pronunciation being 'an reader' it can mean to address a spirit and then read the info...seemed highly suited.
The goal of the build for this unit, which I call Para-meter's for our ghost hunting group, is to use a human hair for the detection of spirits.
Might seem odd but: consider that DNA is present within each hair, hair tracks many elements of the life of the person, most mystical people have long hair, aura's are captured around the head and shoulders, people have kept locks of hair for generations, how many good psychics are bald ?!

A strange effect was noted with a decased mini-cassette recorder. The recorder continues to pick up sound, even with no microphone, when the input wiring is connected to the output. The audio which would normally go to the record head is sent back out through the headphones, to give live EVP listening...tapping, scraping, whatever on the circuit board creates decent sound at the headphones. So, I cut the circuit board down to computer mouse size, removed the cassette mechanism, soldered the record and play wires, rerouted a few components and it formed the basis for the unit.
I ran a spring to the front, attached at the circuit board and that transfers any vibrations from the hair. It'll need a proper transducer and a heterodyne stage i'm sure, but, while some people hear spirit voices with the human ear and recorders pick up EVP, it's worth doing things this way for a trial. There is a volume level wheel for listening.
Power is 3V, either from a wall plug or using the rechargeable batteries. The unit is intended to be as 'green' as possible. The batteries were sourced from a 25 year old arcade board and zapped at double voltage to reinvigorate, the power source is low and a small wind up generator unit i've built can be plugged in at the rear to recharge the batteries. That part makes it spirit energy proof, when they seem to drain electronic equipment !

Functions implemented and fitted are:
Hair pickup and live EVP
Static electricity sensor
Infra-red sensor
Magnetism sensor
Flashlight
Compass

Here are some pics:

I don't see how you do all this stuff... remarkable. You know you have to have all the results you get...

Quick answer to how is messing with electronics since 12 years old LOL
But, seriously, for the past few months i've gained inspiration while walking up our basement stairs, which, lies on the line of the extension to our house. Paranormal activity has largely centered on that line for the past 20 years that Julie has lived here.
Odd stuff.

Further oddness with this project. The author of 'EVPmaker' software is now helping design a transducer stage for the Anrede, to bring the expected high frequencies of a small length of hair to audible levels....works like a guitar string really.
He is from Haar, in Germany. Haar is German for hair !
I also found research on the odd electrical properties of mammalian hair today, posted on the American Institute for Physics website.

And guess what ? the research was conducted by people in Austria and Germany !

Have added an audio in mixing port, to the bottom right. It allows an external mic for traditional live EVP listening or tones, white noise etc to be mixed with the signal.
